Creating a Blog One Year Later… My Thoughts

January 8, 2025 by GrowingConfident Leave a Comment

About a year ago I officially created the Blog Growing Confident. If you have read my post, Why Start a Blog in 2024 then you know the reasons I chose to pursue this endeavor. Now that I have been doing this for almost a year, I wanted to share my thoughts with you. What I have learned and how it has been going creating a blog.

Roll with the Unexpected

Originally, I wanted to soft launch the blog last year in January since that is my Birthday month. However, when do things ever go as planned? At the beginning of 2024, my husband agreed to a job transfer. So, the month of January and February were spent planning, prepping, and packing for our move to Louisiana. We decided to push the blog’s launch date to March. Assuming things should be a bit calmer by then. It would also make for a fun launch as my husband was opening a new store for his company that month.

Soon after our move, we found out we were expected Baby #6, which was a pleasant surprise and wonderful blessing. We had been hoping God would bless us with another Baby in 2024. But did not expect it to happen so soon into the New Year. Since I was dealing with first trimester struggles and would be pregnant for most of 2024, I decided to simplify my goals concerning the blog. Fast forward to June, and you find our family planning, prepping, and packing for ANOTHER job transfer. This time our move would take us to Georgia and closer to extended family… woohoo!

While I was frustrated at times that my goals for creating a blog did not originally go as I had planned, I am thankful that I simplified things. By doing this I was able to focus on my health and the baby. My family’s wellbeing as we went through two moves in a few short months. Planning, prepping, and packing for two moves, and I still had the time and energy to consistently post weekly. Yes, I wish I could have done more and at times I probably could have. But what could have been a VERY stressful year has been VERY smooth because I chose to rethink my priorities and goals for the blog.

Consistency is Key when Creating a Blog

I could have just thrown everything out the window. Or pushed my goal of creating a blog to 2025 when the year unfolded differently that we had originally thought. But I didn’t want to do that. I decided to be consistent and just keep planning, writing, and posting for the year. Email Lists, Pinterest Graphics, Social Media and Collaborations could all wait. Scheduling one quality post a week became my new minimum goal, and I have been killing it!

While I am grateful for the progress made over this past year, I would be lying if I didn’t say I was looking forward to making and following through with bigger goals in 2025 for the blog 🙂

Creating a Blog is a Marathon NOT a Sprint

I understood when I began creating a blog that it would be for the long haul if I wanted to see any kind of growth. While this year was VERY unexpected, I am still fired up and excited for the challenges that are to come as I continue to learn and grow the Growing Confident Blog.

Things may not always go as we plan or hope. But if we are faithful in taking one step at a time in the same direction, we will see growth in whatever goal we set and that should make us thankful!

While my goals for the blog did not go as planned this past year, I am still thankful for the progress I have made. Lord willing, I will make much more traction this coming year!

What goals have you had to rethink this past year? Are you glad for the changes you made or discouraged by the lack of progress? Please share with us in the comments so we can encourage each other to take that next step forward!
