My Favorite Books from this Past Year

January 1, 2025 by GrowingConfident Leave a Comment

Reading is one of my FAVORITE past times so needless to say I read ALOT. Whether that be fun read alouds with the kids. Nonfiction books to better myself or fun and mindless fiction as I am winding down for bed in the evening. Here are just a few of my favorite books from this year.

Stack of books with brown glasses resting on top.

Favorite Books- Fiction

Adventures in Fosterland Series by Hannah Shaw

“Inspired by true stories of the Kitten Lady’s own beloved foster animals. Each fictionalized chapter book in the Adventures in Fosterland series imagines the complex inner life of animals in foster care, bringing readers along for the journey as they find their way to Foreverland.”

All of my kids LOVE this series. They crack up at the antics the animals get into and are always eager to find out what Foreverland looks like for each animal.

Crooked Creek Ranch Series by Amy Drorbaugh

“The Crooked Creek Ranch series follows the adventures of the Smith family on their working cattle ranch in Southern California in the early 1900s. Come along with Sara, Levi, and Tommy as they experience fun and sometimes challenging situations, working together and learning lessons of the importance of family and hard work.”

We enjoyed this series created by the Good and the Beautiful because it is similar to Little House on the Prairie. Each chapter is its own story until the second book where each chapter builds upon the last leaving the reader on the edge of their seat.

Little Glass Lake Series by Jenny Phillips

“Join Holly and friends as they explore the shores of Little Glass Lake. As the children learn about the animals that live in and around the lake, they also learn lessons about the importance of overcoming fears, following rules, caring for animals and others, and so much more.”

A super cute series also by the Good and the Beautiful. In each story you learn about a new animal. If your child is eager to learn more about a specific animal mentioned you can purchase the companion animal guides that complement the series.

Favorite Books- Nonfiction

The Time-Saving Mom: How to Juggle a Lot, Enjoy Your Life, and Accomplish What Matters Most by Crystal Paine

This is one of my all-time favorite books! As a Mom of 6, I am always eager to learn how other Mothers make it all work. From caring for numerous kids, schoolwork, running a business, household tasks, etc. I have read this book numerous times and cannot recommend it enough. If you are looking for a simplified way to streamline your days and enjoy the life you have then I highly recommend you read this book by Crystal Paine aka Money Saving Mom!

5 A.M. Miracle: Dominate Your Day Before Breakfast by Jeff Sanders

I had seen this book recommended by numerous authors I read so I decided to give it a shot. I love the practical advice in it to make your Grand Dreams happen all before breakfast. Even if waking up early is NOT your thing, this book still has ideas that you can apply throughout your day to make your reaching your goals more doable.

What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast by Laura Vanderkam

Again, I am always wanting to learn how successful people make the most of their time and Laura Vanderkam is wonderful at learning from others and sharing that wisdom in simple steps with her readers.

Gather: Exploring the Wonder, Wisdom, and Worship of Learning at Home by Pam Barnhill

“Takes you inside the world of nine homeschooling families through the stunning photography of Heather Tully. You will see for yourself that learning by gathering together is the key to efficient homeschooling. Families build relationships, share discoveries, experience joy and wonder, and model lifelong learning.”

Reminds the reader why Homeschooling is a blessing and to enjoy the process, take it one day at a time, as you wait upon the Lord for results.

Digital Detox by Molly DeFrank

“Molly’s digital detox experiment led to a total tech overhaul that changed her family’s life. Here’s how she did it in just fourteen days, and how you can too.”

I enjoy how this book gives you practical advice for not only how to make your family’s own Digital Detox happen, but Molly’s shares ideas for how to replace screen time with other activities.

The Opt Out Family: How to Give Your Kids What Technology Can’t by Erin Loechner

“The Opt Out Family will help facilitate a larger conversation about how to build a family culture that’s tech-free, way cool, and easy peasy.”

Another great book if you are looking to change the way your family handles Screen Time and Technology.

My Life as An Amish Wife: A Diary by Lena Yoder

“These unassuming glimpses of Amish life will touch your heart and inspire you to seek the simple things—a loving family, a good day’s work, and a grateful heart.”

Whether Nonfiction OR Fiction, I love reading about the simplicity of an Amish life. These are great stories is you are looking for mindless light reading.
