What’s in My Diaper Bag as a Mom of 6

January 29, 2025 by GrowingConfident Leave a Comment

I am always curious to learn how others plan and prep when going out with their kids. Do they prepare the night before or the morning of? Do most moms allow their kids to use screens when waiting in a doctor’s office? What non screen items do Mamas use to entertain their kids when out and about? Considering we just added Baby #6 to our family I wanted to share with you what packing a diaper bag for a newborn, toddler, and potty-trained boy looks like. Keep reading to learn what’s in my diaper bag as a Mom of 6.

What Diaper Bag Do I Carry?

My husband purchased the Bella Tunno Boss Bag Tote in Cognac on Amazon for me almost 5 years ago when we were expecting Baby #3. I have LOVED this diaper bag, and it has held up very well considering all that I cram in there at times. This specific bag is not made anymore, so if mine ever gives out I don’t know what I will do! I love the color of the bag; however, I do wish the bag was genuine leather. On the inside there are numerous pockets all along the sides which is perfect for storing bottles, diaper rash cream, or other small items I don’t want to fall to the bottom of the bag. Listed below are what I typically keep stored inside…

Items for Baby + Toddler

  • Diapers, Wipes, and Diaper Rash Cream
  • Bottles, Formula and Burp Cloths
  • Extra Set of Clothes for the Baby and Toddler
  • Extra Set of Clothes if I have recently Potty-Trained Boy

Items for Myself

  • Wallet and Keys
  • Chapstick and Hand Lotion
  • Hand Sanitizer Spray
  • Sunglasses
  • Hairbows
  • Tumblr with Water… While this does not always fit in my Diaper Bag, I do always carry it with me.
  • Gum

Miscellaneous Items

  • Toddler Leash… I do not use this often but if we go somewhere where the Toddler has to walk it comes in handy, so I am not chasing him around.
  • “Poop” Bags aka plastic Grocery Bags for dirty diapers or wet clothes
  • Band-Aids and Neosporin
  • Note Cards and Crayons for coloring
  • Small Toy for the Toddler
  • Scavenger Hunt Cards for in the Car. These are fun to pull out if we are out running errands, and the kids start to get a little whiney and need a distraction.
  • Snacks for Toddler and Older Kids… depending on where we are going or how long we may be out, I will pack Apple Sauce, Fruit Snacks, or whatever individually wrapped snacks we may have on hand at home.
  • Any items needed for the outing or errands we are going on… Example, Donations to drop off, Items for the Dry Cleaners, Items to Return to my Parents, Forms for an Appointment, etc.

What items do you usually carry in your diaper bag? Share with us in the comments.
