Spring is here and with it comes The Good and The Beautiful’s Spring Sale. Considering I have researched and used a few different homeschool curriculums I wanted to share my thoughts on this particular one. How did I come across it? How long have I used it? Would I recommend it to other family’s interested in homeschooling? I hope you find My Review of The Good and The Beautiful Curriculum helpful in your homeschool journey.

Affordable
The Good and The Beautiful allows you to customize their curriculum to fit your child’s learning level and what you want them to learn for the upcoming homeschool year. This could mean buying the Language Arts Course for the grade your child is entering. Maybe some Language Arts Add Ons IF you think that would be beneficial. Purchase an Elective OR Two that would interest your child. You might decide to pass on the History Courses offered if your kids are younger or you have other History Curriculums you want to use.
They are very good about running sales throughout the year. If you sign up for their email newsletter you will always be made aware when they circle around. The sales offered make the curriculum very affordable especially if you have numerous children to buy for. A few of the sales they offer are the Spring Sale which usually takes place in March. A Black Friday Sale around Thanksgiving, etc. I hardly ever pay full price for what we will need. I wait for the sales to buy for the coming school year.
Easy to Use
You can preplan your child’s lessons as far ahead as you want. Or quickly read a lesson’s instructions before you teach your child. The lessons don’t take much time which is helpful when you are teaching multiple grades. The only reason a lesson may take longer than 20 minutes is if a kid is dragging their feet… ask me how I know?! 🙂
To date we have been using The Good and The Beautiful for 3 years. I have covered all grades from kindergarten to 3rd Grade. So far, every grade level has been very easy to use. With the older Boys I do read instructions and walk through their schoolwork with them. However, Olivia who is in 3rd Grade can actually do some things all by herself. In the Language Arts Course, she is able to watch her lesson video or just read through the instructions. Do the lesson practice. Then complete any practice work that is assigned. Obviously, she needs help with her Spelling Practice and any reading aloud that is encouraged to be completed with a parent.
Goes at Your Child’s Pace
I happened across The Good and The Beautiful Curriculum about 4 years ago. An older Mother with 8 children that I followed on YouTube sang it praises. I was currently frustrated with the curriculum we were using as you had to complete 5 lessons a week. If you got off track, then the timing of lessons became wonky. Think a Christmas themed lesson happening in February. It made me feel like I was behind and not doing a good job. My husband encouraged me to ditch the curriculum I was currently using. Research The Good and The Beautiful and switch to that for the new school year if I felt like it would be a good fit for Olivia. At the time she was the only one of our kids’ who was school aged.
Our family homeschools year-round. We do schoolwork four days a week. Taking off the month of August as well as certain holidays and birthdays throughout the year. Since using The Good and The Beautiful for the past 3 years I have never felt “behind”. We are able to go at a pace that is right for my kids which is very beneficial. Or when life happens, we are able to set the bookwork aside for a time and pick right back up where we left off without ever getting “off track”.
